Introducing… Pressure!

What is your band name, and what does it mean to you?

“Pressure” is the name of the band. All of our songs are about different kinds of pressure, good and bad pressures. The pressure can come from your loved ones, society, or from yourself. If it is good or bad depends on how you interpret the songs.

Where is your band based?

Sweden Stockholm

How long have you been together?

Pressure was born about 2,5 years ago. Emil and Simon had played together 10 years in different constellations before they met/found Olof and they together formed Pressure.

What style of music do you play?

We play “Story Metal” What is story metal? All of our songs are based real story from life. It has happened to one of us or to someone close to us. We use the music to tell the story. The story sets the mood of the music, that means, when you listen to our music you will find not only one sound. Each song has different sound depending on what story we are telling it could be hard metal, more 80: s rock n roll, or even a bit of folk music vibes. All of them includes Metal though.

Give us the story of the bands formation.

Olof is the lead vocalist, sometimes he plays a little guitar if the other guys beg him to do it. Simon plays lead guitar, bass, drums, and do the backing vocals. Patrik do rhythm guitar and some lead guitar as well.

Tell us about your influences.

We are influenced by ordinary everyday people that have a real self-experienced story to tell us. That’s the base of our music, to tell real life stories. When it comes to musicians it is every musician that do music with their soul. It is not one band, person, or genre, it a little mix of many of them. But if I have to give you some examples, this is what you could expect if you listen to our music. A heavy sound with a lot of guitar melody’s and a lot of vocal harmonies.

If you take the Vocals from Rammstein, Volbeat or Thåström and the backing vocals from Queen or Aerosmtih mix it with the guitars of Bon Jovi, Guns ´n Roses and Mötley Crue and add the drums of DIO or Whitesnake and the lyrics of Skid Row or Bob Dylan and add the bass of Metallica or Korn, and finally add a little bit folk music into that mix then you have our sound.

Tell us about your latest release.

It was our album, “Path Of A Shadow”. It’s a concept album told from your shadow’s perspective. The shadow has followed you all your life. It has seen it all, up downs, proud moments the things that made change as a person and why. The shadow is always around, now listen to the story…

And where is it available?

Its available on all different streaming services.

How are you weathering the Covid-19 pandemic – it must be tough for artists?

Yes, it is tough. A lot of people have lost almost all of their normal income. We have focused a lot on making music and creating our sound. But the hard thing is that you can’t do any real live gigs. Hard in two ways, number one, we want to get out there and be able to talk to our fans and feel the pressure. The other thing is when you don’t do any live gigs there is almost no income but still bills to pay.

If you could share the stage with any other band or artist, who would you chose?

Well, there is a lot of them. But if I have to choose one it would probably be Sabaton. They also tell stories; have concept albums and I like their sound.

What can you tell us about your live shows?

They are a little different of what you are used to see. We of perform our music of cause, but in between we tell/read lyrics in a poem style to bind the songs together and tell you a story behind the songs.

Do you have any upcoming gigs to promote?

We are doing a live stream together with a few other bands on Metal storm, it will be aired….

We will do another live stream on “Fredagskväll” that will be air 18th June on Facebook.

What do you think sets you apart from other bands?

The main thing is the story metal part, and that we don’t have one sound. If you listen to our album you will pretty soon realize that almost all the different songs have their own sound. Normally when you listen to an album from a band all the songs have much more of an alike sound.

Explain why you think a new listener should give your music a go.

I think if you listen to the lyrics in our songs there is something that can touch everybody. Doesn’t matter if you are a man, woman, rich, poor, young or old. We have so many different sounds, so if there is one song you don’t like you would probably like another.

What has been your biggest achievement as a band, so far?

The release of our album “Path Of A Shadow”

What else do you hope to achieve?

We want to make an impression to as many people as possible. We hope people listen to our music and can find strength through it.

Are you active with fans on social media?

Yes, we are active, mostly though Facebook and Instagram. And we do our “From the dome” videos. Where we make short videos almost every week like a diary. There the fans can see what happens behind the scenes. We put the episodes up on YouTube

What are the benefits of those interactions?

It’s always nice to hear what people think of our music and work. And it’s nice to have a close as possible relationship with the fans.
