Broken Lines are a three piece band from Pembrokeshire, West Wales, playing their own, unique sound with all original material. They place an emphasis on creating upbeat, energetic music with influences from punk, rock, psychedelic and just about anything else that grabs them.
According to the band, they play for the love and enjoyment of music, and aim to demonstrate that in their songs and performances. Sometimes fast and fierce, sometimes slow and serene, but always refreshing! Strong beats and growling bass punctuated with searing guitar and a vocal performance to match!
Broken Lines deliver an experience that is intense, exciting and emotionally charged, and here, we find out more about them, as part of our ongoing “Introducing…” series.
What does the band name mean to you?
Band names are funny creatures. Regardless of the words in a band name, the name takes on a completely different meaning over time as a result of association. Obviously broken lines literally means lines that are broken. However, due to association, to us it means the sum total of all our efforts and hard work, under the Broken Lines umbrella. I guess in time it will mean similar to other people, that’s the beauty of communication!
Where is the band based?
We are based in Pembrokeshire in South Wales, UK. We have a purpose built studio facility, just outside of Narberth, where we write, record and produce our music. It’s such a luxury to be able to rock up for a rehearsal and not have to lug our gear about or spend an hour getting a decent sound together. Because we also record there, we are able to record all our sessions , just in case something amazing comes along.
How long have you been together?
We have been together in the current form for 2 years give or take.
What style of music do you play?
We are very difficult to pigeon hole because we don’t put any barriers down when we write or play. We all have a punk background to varying degrees but it isn’t an overbearing influence on our music, we are heavily influenced by a multitude of genres and styles. If something sounds good we will generally work with it and turn it into a new song or not.
Give us the story of the bands formation.

What are your goals for the bands future?
The absolute goal is to make enough money to finance the band in order for us to get our message across and write and record without too much stress. We have a lot to say and success would facilitate a platform for us to say it!
If you could share the stage with any other band or artist, who would you choose?
The Stranglers, Jimi Hendrix, The Pink Fairies, too many to list really!
What can you tell us about your live shows?
We are loud, energetic and like to get involved with our audience. We don’t have any airs and graces and put out a huge amount of sound and energy for a three piece outfit. We like our shows to be positive events and also like to throw a few surprises into the occasion!
Do you have any upcoming gigs to promote?
We have been putting so much energy into recording lately that we have had a break from gigs. Now that the album is finished we are scheduling dates to showcase it towards the end of the year and in the new year. All info will be available on our website.
What do you think sets you apart from other bands?
We have plenty of attitude along with plenty of skill. Our live shows are a huge ball of energy that doesn’t disappoint. We are three very creative individuals that have managed to gel together to produce a genuinely profound musical experience, that will leave you thinking and wanting more.
Explain why you think a new listener should give your music a go.
We have been around the block a few times and have many influences. We’re not constrained by any one particular genre so there is always something for everyone.
What has been your biggest achievement as a band, so far?
Our debut album. We have worked very hard building a positive studio environment where we can foster creativity and produce our best efforts and enjoy the band experience.
