Zach Galifianakis dreamed of becoming a star. But when Will Ferrell discovered his public access TV show “Between Two Ferns” and uploaded it to Funny or Die, Zach became a viral laughing stock. Now Zach and his crew are taking a road trip to complete a series of high-profile celebrity interviews and restore his reputation. Directed by Scott Aukerman, BETWEEN TWO FERNS: THE MOVIE is a laugh-out-loud comedy that gives new insight into the curmudgeonly, beloved outsider Zach Galifianakis has created over the years.

So, by now we’ve all seen at least one “Between Two Ferns” Interview on YouTube.  They are awkward and silly and nothing short of comedy gold.  It’s literally an outlet for Zach Galifianakis to have fun with, and simultaneously mock celebrities – so how does this concept become a feature length movie?

Simply turn it in to a “Behind the Ferns” mockumentary and cross it with a road trip movie.

Honestly the “storyline” that gets us from one interview segment to another is predictable and something we have all seen countless times.  This whole thing is hinged upon the extremely funny interview segments – with guest stars including Matthew McConaughey, Keanu Reeves, Paul Rudd and John Legend among others.

Galifianakis himself, is the perfect man for this straight faced, celebrity satire.  I can’t imagine anybody else pulling it off as well as he does.  And then there’s the extended cameo from Will Ferrell.  He’s as over the top as always, and the chemistry between the two funny men is obvious.

This is not blockbuster entertainment, but as a straight to Netflix release, this will become a cult favourite.

Be sure to watch through the credits for some hilarious bloopers – which alone, are enough to warrant a viewing.
