Introducing… Rozu!

What does the band name mean to you?

To us Rozu was a perfect name being the Japanese word for rose. Every member of this band has been in the music game for years and have all dealt with failures. Beginning this project as a blooming rose and a fresh start was such a fitting name.

Where is the band based?

We are based out of Denver Colorado.

How long have you been together?

We have been together for almost 2 and a half years now but, publicly announced for just over a year.

What style of music do you play?

We dabble a fine line of metalcore and post hardcore influences.

Give us the story of the bands formation.

Basically I (Tim) and David (Sundine – Guitar) came together and started writing music after parting ways with a previous band, we decided we want to give this one last shot and to do things right embracing this digital wave of music and how the industry is working right now. It fuelled the fire again for us and from there we got Henry (Navarre – Bass) and Brian (Robertson – Drums) on board with the plan and it just all came together and felt right.  From there we just continued to write music and have not stopped.

Tell us about your influences.

Our influences range anywhere from Armor For Sleep all the way to the heaviest shit like Fit for a King and Polaris. We just really enjoy writing sad heavy music with a lot of melody in the mix.

Tell us about your latest release.

Our latest release was our single ‘Dissolve’ back in April. The song is very direct, to the point, and heavy as shit. We live in such an advanced society and pushing the boundary on information being at our fingertips, yet so much of these dated ideologies primarily racism still exists in our society. Our nation voted in a president that thrived bringing out the hate in people’s hearts and dividing a nation. It is absolutely bullshit and we stand behind our mindset that we are all equals in this world.

Where is your music available?

You can find us all every single platform where music is available, to stay connected with us head over to www.rozuband.comand be directed to whatever platform of your choosing.

What are your goals for the bands future?

We are currently finishing up our album which we are wanting to tour heavily on. Our main goal is to just do this as long as we possibly can.

If you could share the stage with any other band or artist, who would you chose?

Underoath, Every Time I Die, Wage War, and Oceans Ate Alaska would be the dream showcase.

What can you tell us about your live shows?

Energy! We really do make it a goal to have as much energy that our bodies can handle every show and leave all we got on that stage.

Do you have any upcoming gigs to promote?

We currently have no shows announced. We are planning tours for early 2020.

What do you think sets you apart from other bands?

I think for us it is just not slowing down on creating art. We have so much content right now and we never start writing so we have a lot to give our fans over time.

Explain why you think a new listener should give your music a go.

We have a uniqueness to our music where I personally don’t see anyone else sounding like us. Yes, we are a heavy band and there are plenty of those but bringing in multiple genres of influence into every song gives us a cool sound.

What has been your biggest achievement as a band, so far?

I think just breaking 100K streams for being such a new band is a huge achievement for us. The growth of this foundation so early is huge and keeps us pushing the needle to get better work harder.

What else do you hope to achieve?

I think just getting into the festival circuits would be the main goal now that Warped Tour is officially dead.
