I love this. For a 52 year old bloke like me, this five track EP gives me so many emotions and reminders.
For a start. The music. Straight down the line, meat and potatoes hard pub rock. It does not re-invent the wheel. It doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. We have a ballad of sorts in Last Day Alive, which is the last track, and there’s some nice floor tom, glam stomp on Coat Tail Rider but apart from that, it’s four on the floor, V8 hard rock.
Then there’s the voice. It’s perfect for this band. Rose Carleo reminds me of a cross between Suzi Quatro, Suze De Marchi and Wendy Stapleton.
And then there is the band themselves… Simply put, they are tighter than a nun’s nasty. These are seasoned musos and you can tell.
I either now need a sweaty leagues club on a Friday night in 1988, or my old Torana on a coastal road, and I’ll feel complete.
This is Rock N Roll. It’s simple and joyous, and sometimes that’s all you need.
